It is one of the most popular sites among other freelancing sites. This site is always at the top of the list whether it comes to content writing or any other niche. There are several content writing opportunities available. There you can find short-term, long-term, and hourly as well as project basis work. 

Upwork is known for its high-quality freelancer, therefore you must have to be skilled. Due to the high level of competition, establishing a reputation will take some time. However, after you've established yourself here, you'll be able to earn a significant sum of money. It is completely free to use. But to apply on a job post you have to use connects (Upwork virtually currency/token). Connects will be free when you first sign up for an account, but you will have to pay for them later.

Another one is Flexjobs. You may find great content writing jobs here that are free of scams. But there's a catch. For freelancers, Flexjob is not free to use. Are you curious as to why?  Let me explain it to you.

I have not personally used this site. But I have read many posts on different sites and from their experience, I have found that this subscription is worthwhile if you are serious about working.

It's yet another widely used platform. Here you just have to set up your profile and create your gig and start earning money. 

It is totally free to use. On Fiverr, you select how much you want to charge. You may start making money here for as little as $5 and as much as $995.00 per project. There are a lot of categories on Fiverr. Unlike other sites, here you will have gigs rather than jobs. You're the one who creates the gigs and sells them to buyers. How your gigs look and sound matters a lot. Clients only connect with you if they like your gig.

It is totally free and does not charge any fee. You simply need to go through their job board, find a job that interests you, and follow the job rules provided by the Client. Most of the time, they will ask you to fill out a form with your information (like your previous work, price, and all other factors).

6. Freelancer

Another well-known platform is this one. This platform does not only offer writing jobs but other jobs like designing, development jobs as well. In order to start content writing on this platform. Simply create an account and begin bidding on jobs that interest you. The writers who bid the lowest and promise to do the job in the shortest amount of time usually obtain the job.

The downside of this site is that you are only allowed to apply for jobs with a maximum of 8 free bids each month. If these bids end within a month and you want to apply for more jobs, you'll have to buy bids, similar to how we buy connects on Upwork. It is another job board. It is a paid freelance content writing website.  Here are a number of categories on which you can create writing content like Finance, Business, Education, Entertainment, Health, Lifestyle, Real Estate, Sports, Tech, General. 

There you will see 4 types of content writing gigs: Agency content writing, Full-Time content writing, Contract content writing, and Submission content writing. You will also get emails from contena for content writing jobs which include high-paying jobs as well. 

As I said it is paid, here you will find two subscription plans here:: gold membership which costs $497 for one year (or you can opt to pay 6 installments of $99), and platinum membership which costs $997 for two years (or you can opt to pay 6 installments of $199). Both have advantages, but the premium outweighs gold in terms of benefits. It is a little expensive but you won't have to pay a service fee every time you earn. You just have to pay once for 1 or 2 years depending on your subscription plan.

8. Craigslist

This website is a little confusing. Craigslist helps you to find local content writing jobs available in your local area. Visit https://craigslist.org/ it will take you to Craigslist’s homepage according to your location. However, the buttons on the right-hand side allow you to change your location. 

In the job section, in the end, you will find “writing/editing”. When you click that, you'll be sent to a list of available content writing jobs in your chosen location.  It is a region-specific site. There is also a gig section under which you will find “writing”. You can also use that. 

Another way is, You can also post an ad on Craigslist. All you have to do now is create and submit an ad outlining the services you will provide. The ad will be shown on the site for a specified period of time, and potential clients will be able to contact you through it. 

This site is free to use, however, there are a number of scammers that may waste a lot of your time and money. So be aware of those frauds.

9. iWriter

It is another free content writing freelance site. As the name suggests you can find writing jobs here. It is specifically made for content writers.

 

When you start content writing on iWriter. When you first sign up on iWriter, you have to pass a basic grammar test. You get a "standard writer" tag when you pass this test and become a content writer on iWriter. As you complete more projects your level of writer and rating also rise. 

There are four types of writer level. 
Standard Writer- a new writer with a rating of fewer than 4.1 stars.
Premium Writer - with 4.1 stars or more and at least 25 ratings.
Elite Writer- With 4.6 stars or more and at least 30 ratings.
Elite Plus Writer - with 4.85 stars or more and at least 40 ratings.

Here one thing you can definitely count as a good point is their payment system. The amount you earn here depends on your writer level and word count. The least amount you can earn as a beginner is $2 for 500 words. However, as you progress and the levels rise, being an elite plus writer you can earn $50 or more for a 1,000-word. So the amount you earn depends on your skills and writer level. Also, there is only a PayPal method available. iWriter pays their content writer through only PayPal.

10. Guru

In the freelance marketplace, it has the lowest service fee. Though it is known for tech gigs, it has some options for content writing as well. You can find some content writing work here but it is limited as compared to other sites. 

This platform is really easy to use and many big companies offer their jobs here. Guru has basic and premium versions as well. As a basic user, you will get access to complete only 80% of the profile. Every basic user is given a monthly limit on the number of jobs they can apply for.  

The amount of the project is fixed, you do not have to bid for it. Also because you are applying for writing jobs, I recommend you to take an English test. Without this test, the site may not allow you to apply for jobs. This platform charges an 8.95% fee from every basic account user on their earnings while it charges a 4.95% fee from premium account users if they do a maximum $39.95 subscription charge in a month.
